I have been totally thinking about this as well.
I'm forever trying to remember where I saw collectors or quest NPCs out in the mission areas and am unable to tell other people about them.

This is a great idea. It would help when you find a collector with a piece of armor or a weapon you want but don't have enough items to trade for it. You could put a tack and when you mouse over it or click it, it would have your personal note with the info you want.
It would also be nice to have the areas listed on the map as you explore. For instance if you need to head to Regent Valley, just bring up the map and it would be listed. It wouldn't have to be a warp button, because the travelling there would be worth it, but just so you know where to go at a glance.
